History of The Sketch
| |
The Sketch, formed in December 1998 by singer songwriter Kris Truyens was the result of an internet experiment
trying to bring Belgian rock musiciant together using the web as media (Project X / Plan B). The band kicked off in 1999 and quickly
moved forward playing for about 3 years on every possible rock festival in Belgium. The original band members
include Olivier Calmyn, Erwin Rock, Stephan Bartholomeus, Freddy Groeger, Johan Verreck and Kris Truyens. After three
years of progression and three demo's (Light My Fire, One Small Step and Stuck on The Web), the band
members decided to put The Sketch to sleep. The original line up was burned out and continuously
playing in Belgium bars just didn't do anymore.
Early 2005, Kris Truyens contacted right hand Johan Verreck with new plans to write and record rock
songs. The approach would be different from a traditional rock band though. The Sketch would focuss
on songwriting and recording. Several musicians were contacted and the band is active behind the
scenes again. The Sketch web site - once the most advanced interactive band web site in Belgium - is
redesigned and started up. The Sketch web site aims to document the entire life cycle of a rock band.
We will publish all design and writing material, even in it's raw form and interactively involve the
internet community in making critical decisions. A new concept is born ... you decide!
